Body & Brain Foundation strives to bring the people within communities closer together through special events and health awareness initiatives. That’s precisely why the health and wellness organization put together the Family Yoga Fest. Its first installment was 2014, and it took place on April 12 at the Tempe, Arizona, Sun Devil Fitness Complex.
The goal of the event was to demonstrate the potential for yoga to serve as a community service tool. It raised funds for Camp Soaring Eagle, a non-profit that gives seriously ill children the opportunity to meet others and have fun at a medically supervised camp. It turned out to be a huge success, welcoming about 100 participants and accumulating $3,500 that was used to send children to Respiratory Camper Weekend April 25 through 27.
To further display the capacity for yoga and other wellness initiatives to make a community a supportive and nurturing environment, the staff who contribute to Body & Brain Yoga classes were on-hand at the camp to make sure everything went smoothly and the kids had a good time.
Along with these volunteers, Susan Gerace of Tempe Body & Brain Yoga played a major role in organizing the event, and the Body & Brain Foundation extends its thanks to these dedicated practitioners and community leaders.
